Erin Voichoski has joined Civic Nebraska as school community coordinator for our new Community Learning Center at Lincoln Northeast High School. Erin, a Lincoln native and 2018 University of Nebraska alumni, began her new role July 15.

The Northeast CLC is a program within our Youth Civic Leadership initiatives and officially kicks off in August. This month, Erin is assembling her CLC team and working with Northeast Principal Keri Applebee and other Northeast staff to ensure a smooth launch for the Center.

Before joining Civic Nebraska, Erin was an AmeriCorps member in Omaha at College Possible, which aims to eliminate America’s “degree divide” by advocating for low-income students on their journeys to and through college. Based at Omaha Benson High School, Erin was responsible for preparing and supporting 40 first-generation students as they readied themselves for college. Her work, at the intersection of education and community development, was a great foundation for taking on leadership of the Northeast CLC.

“My experience as a coach, teacher, and mentor for diverse groups of high-school students has primed me for this position, and I could not be more thrilled to become a Rocket,” Erin said. “High schoolers are at a special age where they start taking ownership over their education and making decisions that will affect their lives beyond high school. Whether it’s college preparation or career readiness, our CLC will support them on their paths and provide opportunities for exploration and growth on both personal and professional levels.”

In her spare time, Erin enjoys traveling and is always planning her next trip, whether it’s a quick road trip across Nebraska or an international endeavor. She also is a huge fan of puzzles and is always expanding her collection. She and her roommates and her cat, Kitty Kelly, live in Lincoln’s historic Woods Park neighborhood.
